*UPDATE*
On July 14, 2011 the Board of the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District passed a resolution adopting the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for the next 5 years. The next step is for the plan participants to adopt the plan at the local level. A copy of the example "Resolution for Adoption" can be found here.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the approval and adoption process or if your community is interested in pursuing grant funding through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program at this time.
Why do we need a plan?
The Papio-Missouri River NRD is partnering with the counties of Sarpy, Douglas, Washington, Burt, Thurston, and Dakota to develop a regional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
A Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is now required as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 regulation for any local governmental entity to receive federal funding for FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Assistance Programs, including Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), post-disaster funds; Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) pre-disaster funding; Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA); Repetitive Flood Claim (RFC), and the Severe Repetitive Loss (SRL) Programs.
