Public Involvement
The first step in developing the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is to hold public meetings in each county to receive public comments about disaster types, problem areas, and potential mitigation solutions. These initial meetings were held at various locations within the Papio-Missouri River NRD between October 20 and November 4, 2009.
A second round of public meetings were held on May 10 and May 13, 2010. At this meeting, risk and hazard assessment data was shared for each county. Additionally, the STAPLEE evaluation worksheet was overviewed and potential mitigation actions were discussed.
The draft plan was submitted to FEMA for review in January 2011, and was "approved pending local adoption" in February 2011. On July 14, 2011 the board of the P-MRNRD passed a resolution officially adopting the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for the next 5 years. Plan participants have one year from July 14, 2011 to formally adopt the plan at the local level.

Public Meetings
The first round of public meetings were in late October and early November 2009 to explain the plan and gather details from communities. Following the public meetings, feedback will be reviewed, compiled, and added to the plan. The NRD has hired the team of Olsson Associates and AMEC to develop the plan over the next year.
A second round of public meetings to share risk and hazard assessment details and develop community project lists was held in May 2010.
As any additional meetings are scheduled, information will be added here.
